Membership

Florida United Numismatists welcomes all who wish to become a member of our organization. Before you print out the membership application, take a few minutes to read our Goals and Benefits of Membership, which will help in acquainting yourself with FUN:

The Goals of FUN

• To advance the knowledge of numismatics along educational, historical, and scientific lines.
• To promote greater popular interest in numismatics.
• To bring numismatists, especially those in Florida, into friendly relationships with one another.
• To hold meetings and exhibitions.
• To aid in the formation of other coin clubs in the state.

The Benefits of Membership

1. Our award-winning quarterly publication FUN-Topics

• Each yearly volume totals approximately 200 pages.
• Educational articles of interest to collectors.
• Special page for young numismatists, ages 18 and under.
• "Club Notes" news from all clubs that are FUN members.
• "Show Calendar" listing of dates and locations of all reported coin shows in Florida and the U.S.
• Commercial advertising.

2. Our annual convention

• One of the largest coins shows in the world, free to the public.
• Educational programs presented by some of the most knowledgeable numismatists.
• Special program for FUN young numismatists (ages 18 & under) on Saturday.
• Educational exhibits of coins, paper money, tokens and medals, etc.
• Meeting rooms available for member clubs.
• FUN General Membership Meeting and awards presentations are held Saturday afternoon during the convention.

3. Our awards program

• Exhibit awards are presented to all 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners for educational exhibits placed at the annual convention.
• Lou Montesi Best of Show Award for the best educational exhibit.
• Jim & Carrie Best Literary Award for the best article published in FUN-Topics during the calendar year.
• A. J. Vinci Memorial Award for Excellence in Numismatic Education is presented to someone who has provided exceptional services to FUN in support of numismatic education.
• The Award of Merit is the highest award presented by FUN to an individual who has performed outstanding service to the organization.
• The Polly Abbott Service Award is presented annually to the person who has given outstanding service to FUN during the previous calendar year.

4. Our Young Numismatists (YN) Program

• A special page in each issue of FUN-Topics devoted to YN's.
• Games & prizes available to YN's who participate in the YN program.
• Special half day (9:30 am until 12:30 pm) YN seminar on Saturday during the annual FUN convention.
• Competitive exhibit category, with numismatic prizes, for YN's only.
